Milan midfielder, Lucas Biglia, suffered a severe lumbar trauma injury, during Saturday’s 0-1 defeat to Benevento.
The club released a statement, reading: “The player has undergone medical examinations that highlighted a fracture of the transverse processes of the first two lumbar vertebrae.”
Biglia was substituted in the 72nd minute – after an impressive performance in his holding midfield role – by Manuel Locatelli.
Further tests will be performed in the coming days to determine the extent of the injury and the rehabilitation period.
However, lumbar vertebrae injuries can take up to two months, to fully recover from.
