The release clause in Dries Mertens’ contract has expired today, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Paris Saint-Germain heavily considered triggering the clause to sign the Belgian attacker. Atletico Madrid were also mildly interested.
Any club that wants to sign Mertens will now have to negotiate with Napoli directly.
