Venezia FC have sacked Stefano Vecchi after just six league matches in charge.
The Serie B club have hired Walter Zenga, whose managerial experience dates back 20 years and over 250 matches.
Last season under Pippo Inzaghi, Venezia earned a spot in the promotion playoffs.
Over the summer, club president Joe Tacopina unveiled plans to build a new stadium for the club on the mainland near the airport.
Venezia have earned four points from their opening six Serie B matches.
