Juventus announced that German midfielder Sami Khedira has not travelled with the squad to Madrid but instead stayed in Turin to undergo medical tests.
Those tests revealed the 31-year-old had “an atrial arrhythmia,” meaning an irregular heartbeat.
The extent of the condition is not yet known and Khedira will undergo further tests in the coming days.
Brazilian attacker Douglas Costa will also miss the Champions League Round of 16 clash as he continues his recover from injury.
