Now the head of the Barcelona youth sector, former Netherlands and AC Milan striker Patrick Kluivert says he did not try to tempt Matthijs de Ligt to join the Blaugrana, but believes his compatriot might be regretting his decision to move to Italy instead.
“It is not correct to say that I tried to convince him, I only spoke well of Barcelona both as a city and as a club,” Kluivert told Mundo Deportivo. “In the end, however, it is the player and their agents who choose their future.
“De Ligt is a great defender, he decided to go to Juventus, but I think he is a little regretful about his choice. Life is like that, you have to know how to learn from your decisions.”
