Yesterday, AS Roma announced the termination of Eusebio Di Francesco’s contract and followed with the mutual departure of sporting director Monchi today.
Monchi spent almost two years at the Giallorossi, having joined in April 2017. The Spaniard made a multitude of moves on the transfer market, notably selling Mohamed Salah and Alisson to Liverpool, Nainggolan to Inter. Some of his most successful signings were Aleksandr Kolarov from Man City, Cengiz Ünder from İstanbul Başakşehir, and Nicoló Zaniolo from Inter.
The club’s statement notes that Federic Massara has taken over the sporting operation duties.
Di Francesco was appointed head coach in June 2017 and brought Roma to the Champions League semi-finals last season after mounting a memorable comeback against Barcelona.
