Sandro Tonali called up to Italy senior squad

Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali was featured in the 0-0 draw between Republic of Ireland and Italy U21 sides on Thursday evening, but on Friday morning, the FIGC reported that he had received a call up to the senior squad.

Roberto Mancini’s men will face Greece in a Euro 2020 qualifier on Saturday evening and a win would be enough to secure a place in next summer’s tournament with three games to spare.

The 19-year-old replaces Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi, who was forced to pull out of the Azzurri squad through injury.
