Former Roma Director Petrachi: “I was abandoned by an ownership that was too distant from Rome, the club, and the supporters.”

In an open letter released by ANSA, former Roma Director of Sport Gianluca Petrachi gave his version of events two months after his dismissal from the club, a year after joining from Torino.

In a selection of passages, Petrachi is particularly critical of former owner James Pallotta, revealing that in January a change to the club’s strategy would render him unable to carry out the three-year project he had been entrusted with.

“I tried to raise a wall to defend the group, but I found myself alone against everyone. I was abandoned by an ownership that was too distant from Rome, the club, and the supporters.”

“I had asked the ownership to remove those who leaked secrets from the dressing room and the pitch, or worse, who undermined internal relations.”
