Italian FA medical advisor on restarting sport: “We’re proposing to play games in the Centre-South regions.”

Speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo, one of the medical advisors of the Italian Olympic Committee and Italian FA Walter Ricciardo discussed the possibility of restarting sporting activity in select regions of the country depending on the extent of Covid-19 in the future.

“Differentiating between areas at risk is the right thing to do, we’re proposing to play games in the Centre-South regions. There’s no sense in banning activities were there’s no cases like in Basilicata. Campania has reacted vey well, the population there has understood the situation well and reacted in time. I’m a bit worried for Puglia – the second and third waves could be more dangerous than the first, we can’t allow for it to happen.”

“May is still a month at risk, especially in some of the regions. What we are proposing is to have different provisions depending on the geographic area.”
