Juventus “do not need” more defenders despite Demiral injury

Despite Merih Demiral suffering a season-ending ACL tear last weekend, Juventus director Fabio Paratici insists the club will not be looking to sign another central defender during the January transfer window.

Giorgio Chiellini has also been out since the first week of the campaign, but Paratici believes he will be available for selection in the near future, joining Leonardo Bonucci, Matthijs de Ligt and Daniele Rugani as options for Maurizio Sarri.

“The idea of signing a defender is not in our minds, as we do not need any more centre-backs,” Paratici told RAI Sport on Wednesday evening. “We have strong defenders and a complete squad at our disposal, especially as we hope to have Chiellini back very soon. We’re fine as we are.”
