Chris Smalling has finally completed his return to Roma, this time arriving from Manchester United on a permanent deal. The English centre-back moves back to the Giallorossi after spending last season on loan in the capital, in one of the more protracted transfer stories of the mercato, with various twists and turns.
As reported by both Gianluca Di Marzio and The Athletic, the fee for the player will amount to €15m excluding bonuses. There had been a holdup in the final hours of deadline day, as the clubs rushed to complete the paperwork for the defender’s transfer, which now looks to have been approved.
