Maurizio Sarri reacts to Coppa loss: “We lack the spark to make our game dangerous.”

Speaking in the aftermath of his team’s defeat in the Coppa Italia final, Maurizio Sarri recognised his Juventus side’s lack of sharpness in the final third other the two games played since the restart, which he attributes to a lack of fitness.

“There’s disappointment, for the guys, the club and the fans. But this is a particular time, whether it be for our physical condition or for the absences. Today we made different choices to the usual ones, by not pressing as high up to control things from a distance. We played well, with a good level of application. At this moment, however, we lack the spark to make our game dangerous, and without that spark it becomes hard to get past the man, something which usually our players are used to doing with ease, to find other solutions. We haven’t had two 0-0s before and I think it’s characteristic of the period we’re in.”
