Milinković-Savić tests positive for Covid-19 as Ciro Immobile remains sidelined for Lazio

As reported in various outlets including La Repubblica, Lazio striker Ciro Immobile will remain unavailable for selection for Simone Inzaghi, having undergone a series of Covid-19 tests over the last week.

The forward was due to undertake further tests today, only for the visit to be cancelled, while local health authorities have not given the player the green light to rejoin the rest of his teammates in training.

Yesterday, Immobile had undergone Covid-19 tests with a private clinic, which returned a negative result, as well as an additional one with the regional health authority, which indicated that the player remained positive. As a result, the Italy international will remain in self-isolation for the time being, as Lazio await clarification on the striker’s test results going forward.

In addition, midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić has also tested positive for Covid-19 whilst on international duty with Serbia. The announcement came this afternoon from the country’s FA, confirming that an additional three players among which the Biancoceleste midfielder and Hellas’ Darko Lazović had returned a positive test.

As a result, the Serbian will miss at least the next two games for Lazio as a result of the self-quarantine period imposed on him, namely the league fixture against Crotone and the midweek Champions League clash at home to Zenit, on Tuesday.
