Napoli appeal over point deduction successful as Juventus fixture will be replayed

As reported by Sky Sport, Napoli have been successful in their appeal against a point deduction and 3-0 loss against Juventus for not travelling to Turin earlier in the season.

The Azzurri had failed to travel for the fixture in October, after a decree from local health authorities prevented the squad from leaving the region as a result of Covid-19 cases in the squad.

Juventus had shown up for the game, and after 45 minutes the match was called off with the Bianconeri’s opponents still in Naples.

The official ruling from the footballing authorities of the country had initially awarded a 3-0 win to Juventus and docked Napoli a point for not appearing for the game, however the Italian Olympic Committee has now overturned the decision.

As a result, Napoli will have their docked point restored, putting them on 24 points. As the 3-0 win for the Bianconeri will be overturned, this will put Juventus on the same point tally as well.
