Senad Lulić on his 2013 Coppa Italia-winning goal against Roma: “The more time passes, the more I realise how important that goal was.”

Speaking to Lazio Style Channel, in an interview transcribed in Corriere dello Sport, Lazio captain Senad Lulić looked back on the impact of his matchwinning goal in the 2013 Coppa Italia final against Roma, a moment which cemented his cult status among fans.

“Today is a special day, before anything I’d like to wish everyone a happy May 26. The more time passes, the more I realise how important that goal was. I get so many messages from Biancocelesti supporters, more on May 26 than on my birthday. It’s great to feel all of this affection. I’ll never forget that final celebration, the enthusiasm of the supporters was incredible.”

“I’m proud to be Lazio captain and to have lifted so many trophies over the last few years. I really miss the pitch, and it’s not just me who does. We hope we can come back soon to finish the season above where we are right now. [Ștefan] Radu and I have fought so many battles together, hopefully we can do even more.”
