Serie A officials vote unanimously to play out 2019/20 season.

In a meeting which took place this morning over video call, representatives from all twenty clubs voted unanimously to go ahead with playing out this season’s remaining Serie A fixtures.

In a statement released on the Lega Serie A official website this afternoon, it was clarified that the resumption of play would be in line with FIFA and UEFA regulations. It would fall under the Italian government’s ‘Phase 2’ plan in reopening the country, currently under complete lockdown, from the 4th of May.

Clubs such as Brescia and Torino, who had previously expressed their refusal to return to play, were among those who voted in favour. The representatives reiterated their intention, as far as the government alors for it, to finish the 2019-20 campaign, as long as staff and players are protected and medical protocol is repsected.
