Victor Osimhen to miss Milan clash due to dislocated shoulder

Various outlets including Sky Italia have reported this afternoon that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has dislocated his right shoulder, sidelining him for at least a week. Tests conducted on the Nigerian’s return from international duty concluded that the injury, sustained in the match against Sierra Leone, is nevertheless not serious and will not require any surgery.

However, the forward is likely to miss Napoli’s upcoming match on Sunday against league leaders Milan, whilst he is also a doubt for the club’s midweek Europa League fixture against Croatian side Rijeka.

Osimhen joined the club during this summer’s window from Ligue 1 side Lille, moving to Campania for a fee believed to be around €80m. The 21-year-old has made an instant impact with the Azzurri, scoring twice in the league so far and giving Gennaro Gattuso’s attack an added dimension through his dynamism and involvement in the team’s forward play.
