Multiple outlets including Repubblica report that police investigations are underway after Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo crossed regional borders to go on a ski trip.
The Portuguese forward, who was not called up for yesterday’s 4-0 cup win over SPAL, had spent the last few days in Courmayeur, a ski resort in Italy’s Valle d’Aosta region.
However, under Italy’s current Covid-19 restrictions, Ronaldo would not have been able to travel across regional borders from the Piedmont region, which has been classed as “amber” by the Italian government with regards to Covid-19 risk.
As a result, local police authorities have begun investigations, after a video was posted online – now deleted – showing Ronaldo and girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez at Courmayeur. The pair had been at the ski resort for Rodriguez’s 27th birthday, and spent two days in a local hotel which had been officialy closed.
