Indirect tie already links Inter and PIF

An indirect tie already links Public Investment Fund and Inter, even though there’s been nothing formal been done about a potential takeover.

This comes from Calcio e Finanza, who state that a thread connects both the parties already through Pagani – the famous Italian car manufacturer. And it is suggested that because of that link, it wouldn’t be PIF’s first movement in Italy.

Last August, Horacia Pagani announced a long-term partnership with PIF in an agreement which is supposedly going to provide long-term investment from the Saudi organisation. PIF therefore, are a minority shareholder in Pagani.

PIF took over 30 percent of what was held by Emilio Petrone and Nicola Volpi. The latter is an entreprenuer and he’s the link between PIF and Inter.

When Erick Thohir had left the Inter board in 2018, Volpi had played a key role in the re-financing of the club via the Zhang family. Steven Zhang too, currently owns a Pagani car.
