Inter boss Inzaghi defends Handanovic: “Our captain can make mistakes like everyone else.”

Inter boss Simone Inzaghi has defended club captain Samir Handanovic after the goalkeeper’s error lead to Sheriff’s goal on Tuesday.

Inter did pick up a 3-1 win over Sheriff and it was their first win of the Champions League campaign. But Sebastien Thill had equalised for the new Champions League outfit and Handanovic was at fault for the goal.

Inzaghi was asked about the club captain and the Italian told Sky: “Our captain can make mistakes like everyone else.”‘

Inzaghi also praised Arturo Vidal and stated: “Arturo trains with great enthusiasm. He also wanted to be in Rome and I knew that he could be important tonight. It is an added value of this team and has the enthusiasm of a kid.”

Inter play Sheriff once again in the next European game but the win today opens up their group, as Real Madrid have six points and Shakhtar Donetsk are at one point.
