Milan boss Pioli hails Castillejo: “He must be taken as an example.”

Milan manager Stefano Pioli has hailed Samu Castillejo, claiming that the Spaniard should be seen as an example by others to improve.

Castillejo proved crucial in Milan’s win over Verona, as he won the penalty that Franck Kessie converted to make it 2-2 and the winger assisted Koray Gunter’s own goal some minutes later too.

Pioli praised the Spaniard, saying that the way he has come into the team after being out is exemplary. The Italian told Sky Sport: “He must be taken as an example. My choices penalised him, but he continued to work. I’m really happy for him and I’m happy that whoever enters is ready.”

Castillejo was seen to be emotional after the game ended and pictures circulated on social media, confirming the same. The winger was linked with a move away from Milan last summer but any transfer failed to materialise.
