Napoli take ‘decisive steps’ to sign Denis Zakaria

Serie A giants Napoli have now taken decisive steps in an attempt to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria.

Journalist Daniele Longo has reported about Napoli’s interest in Zakaria, saying that the Partenopei would like to replace Tiemoue Bakayoko with Zakaria. Napoli would like to sign him on an initial loan deal with the option to buy him permanently but it can turn into an obligation to buy permanently if certain conditions are met.

An initial loan deal will allow Luciano Spalletti’s men the chance to assess Zakaria’s suitability to Serie A. It would help them postpone any permanent transfer to next summer, allowing them financial strength for the current window. Earning finances from a potential Champions League qualification will allow Napoli to sign them permanently next summer.

Gladbach are yet to be convinced by Napoli but Spalletti is said to be an admirer of the Swiss midfielder’s versatility. Napoli’s interest comes after Sport1 had claimed that the midfielder’s agents are pushing for a transfer.
