Roma boss Jose Mourinho has revealed that the Giallorossi were sent out to win the game and the manager was prepared to risk a lot.
Roma scored twice in the first half before Luis Muriel’s deflected shot made it 2-1. The Giallorossi soaked up the pressure in the second half as Tammy Abraham scored his second and Chris Smalling scored once again.
In the post-game press conference, Mourinho revealed that he risked more than he’d have liked. He stated: “We prepared to win the game. I risked a lot today and you could have laughed at me for it. Atalanta will always be Atalanta, for all their ways, they will always be like this.”
Mourinho also revealed that Rick Karsdorp and Smalling had to battle on throughout the game despite having issues.
