Roma identify ex-Inter striker Mauro Icardi as Edin Dzeko replacement

Jose Mourinho’s Roma now see Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi as a potential replacement for Edin Dzeko, if the Bosnian departs this summer.

La Repubblica have reported about Roma’s striker situation this summer, claiming that Inter see Dzeko as an ‘accessible’ signing this summer once Romelu Lukaku departs for Chelsea. There is a possibility that they sign both Duvan Zapata and Dzeko and the future of the Bosnian is linked to that of Icardi.

Mourinho has asked the Giallorossi management to replace Dzeko with Icardi and a meeting between the two parties took place a couple of weeks ago. If Dzeko doesn’t leave, Roma won’t sign Icardi in any way.

The report states that Zapata is the likelier to end up at the San Siro this summer and a deal could be done for €30 million.
