Roma star on relationship with Mourinho: “What happened in Manchester, stays in Manchester.”

Roma star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has opened up about his relationship with new Giallorossi boss Jose Mourinho, saying that whatever happened between them at Manchester United stays at Old Trafford.

Mkhitaryan gave an interview to Il Corriere dello Sport recently and he talked about his life in Rome, the choice to renew his stay, the spat with Pepe and of course, Mourinho himself.

The Armenian talked about the Portuguese and stated: “We are working well, we try to do everything the coach asks of us. We work on aspects that we had neglected in the past.”

When asked about his relationship with the ex-Man Utd boss, the midfielder claimed: “What happened in Manchester stays in Manchester. We spoke as mature people, we both want to go the same way, we both want to win something for Roma. It is the only thing that matters this year.”

Mourinho had signed Mkhitaryan at United from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £26.3 million. But the Armenian’s spell didn’t go well, as he faced injury issues and despite having scored for them in the Europa League final, he left the club in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez in January 2018.
