Roma’s El Shaarawy takes down and helps arrest robber found inside his car

Various outlets in Italy including Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky have reported this afternoon that Roma forward Stephan El Shaarawy tackled a robber that he had found stealing from his car, with police eventually arriving to arrest the man.

The man had broken through the rear window of the Giallorossi man’s car, eventually being spotted by El Shaarawy who chased him and tackled him to the ground. According to Sky, passers-by then called for help from local police who were then able to intervene and take over the situation, with the suspect being held down by the striker.

The Italy international returned to Italy in January after a spell in China with Shanghai Shenhua, having previously spent three years in the capital after a four-season spell with Milan.
