Arsenal star Gabriel preferred to replace Chelsea-linked Matthijs de Ligt at Juventus

Juventus are on the hunt for a potential replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, who is considering moving to Chelsea this summer. Gabriel tops Juve’s wishlist.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have put Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães at the top of the shortlist prepared with an intention to find a potential replacement for Matthijs de Ligt. The report insists that he is the chosen one for Bianconeri to replace De Ligt.

It is suggested that convincing Arsenal to sell the defender could prove to be a massively difficult task for Juventus. Along with Ben White, Gabriel has shown signs of promise and authority with his defensive abilities over the last two seasons.

The Londoners have already clarified that the Brazilian is not for sale. But Juventus want to try to lure the player away from the club.

The report claims it could take at least €40 million for Arsenal to consider the sale of Gabriel. The 24-year-old has a contract at the Premier League club until June 2025. But, Juventus, by exploiting the Growth Decree, could offer the player a better salary than his current €2.6 million per season plus bonuses.

The Italian club has also shared a good relationship with the player’s new agent, Giuliano Bertolucci, who is also the representative of Kaio Jorge. Nevertheless, everything currently depends on whether Chelsea manage to sign Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus.
