Arsenal continue pressing for Aaron Hickey as Serie A club identify replacement

Arsenal are continuing to press for Bologna’s Aaron Hickey, with the Rossoblu looking internally to replace the Scotsman.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported about Arsenal’s interest in Hickey, claiming that Mitchell Dijks is seen as the man to replace Hickey at left-back from next season onwards. He played 16 Serie A games last season and he racked up two assists for the club.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are said to be ready to offer €25 million to Bologna for the ex-Hearts and Celtic youngster, with the Gunners pressing ‘strongly’ for the left-back. A farewell for the defender is said to be very much on the cards this summer. It has been reported previously that Arsenal’s move for Hickey is very close.

Dijks’ time at Bologna seemed to have come to an end back in January, when Sinisa Mihajlovic had publicly questioned his attitude but he returned strongly and became a prominent feature of the side at the end of the campaign. He is now expected to stay at the club.
