Arsenal’s Pablo Mari liked by Verona’s new boss Cioffi

Unable to see a fruitful future in London, Pablo Mari could leave Arsenal this summer after impressing Gabriele Cioffi during his brief stay at Udinese last season.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Gabriele Cioffi would like Verona’s sporting director Francesco Marroccu to sign Arsenal’s Pablo Mari. Landed by Udinese on a loan deal until the end of the 2021/22 season, Mari was impressive under the supervision of Cioffi.

This summer, Cioffi joined Verona following the departure of Igor Tudor. The manager has now asked for reinforcement in the central defensive department. While on his six-month loan spell, Mari made 15 appearances in the Serie A for Udinese.

Since joining Arsenal from Flamengo, the defender might have spent his brightest days in Italy, where he would love to return next season.

But Arsenal will have to give permission first as the centre-half is bound to the Gunners’ contract until June 2024. Currently, signing the 28-year-old Spaniard is considered the priority in the Verona camp.
