Since leaving Fiorentina to return to Arsenal this summer, Lucas Torreira has been continuously linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium. The player has reportedly offered himself to Juventus.
In an interview with El Pais, Lucas Torreira revealed that he had talks with Jose Mourinho. He also expressed his interest in joining hands with the Portuguese manager. But the 26-year-old anticipates that the desired move to Roma will be difficult. He said:
“I spoke to Mourinho some time ago. He is a coach I admire. It [moving to Roma] is an opportunity that tempts me, but it’s not easy.”
Last season, Arsenal loaned out the midfielder to Fiorentina, where the Uruguayan had a decent season. He ended up making 31 appearances for La Viola. If anything, he was vividly influential under the management of Vincenzo Italiano, who wanted to sign him on a permanent deal this summer.
But having failed to reach an agreement over a permanent signing of the South American, Fiorentina had to let Torreira leave. The former Sampdoria star is bound to a contract with the Premier League club until June 2023.
