Atalanta closing in on Genoa star as Arsenal complicate deal for Nuno Tavares

Atalanta are seemingly unwilling to meet the conditions imposed by Arsenal on a potential deal for Nuno Tavares, who has been considered a replacement for Robin Gosens by La Dea.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, new complications in a potential move for Nuno Tavares have led Atalanta to turn their eyes towards an alternative in Genoa’s Andrea Cambiaso.

It is understood that Genoa, who suffered relegation at the end of the 2021/22 season in Serie A, are open to selling the 22-year-old this summer.

The report claims that the player could arrive at Bergamo for a transfer fee of around €7-8 million, and Atalanta have already made good progress in their attempt to land the youngster, who is regarded as an alternative to Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares.

La Dea were determined to complete a deal for Tavares. But the report suggests that the Premier League side is only willing to include an expensive option-to-buy in a loan deal, keeping the primary control of the player and the deal in their hands.

Therefore, the negotiations with Arsenal have hit a deadlock. If the report is believed to be true, Atalanta are close to making a swoop for Cambiaso. The completion of the deal could close La Dea’s doors for Tavares.
