Barcelona and Atletico Madrid interested in Juventus star

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are said to be in the race to sign Paulo Dybala, if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Juventus.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the meeting between Juve and Dybala’s agent Jorge Antun is scheduled for Thursday and that is pretty much around the same time as when he is expected to return from injury against Villarreal in the Champions League.

The parties left at the end of 2021 with a handshake after having reached an agreement on an extension until 2026 for €8 million euros a year plus €2 million bonuses. But these are figures that Juventus no longer seem willing to pay, partly due to the change of strategy linked to the arrival of Vlahovic, who has become the center of the new Juventus project. Another reason is Dybala’s physical condition and constant injury troubles.

Juventus have decided to cut La Joya’s salary as the €7.5 million per season salary for the Serbian center forward is the new ceiling. Therefore it is likely that Dybala will be offered a downward proposal, around €7 million (excluding bonuses) and for three seasons instead of four.

Juve want to keep him but only on their terms and Dybala will have to decide whether to accept a downsizing in wage. If things do not work out, Inter, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and English clubs will be in the race for the Argentine.
