Barcelona emerging as a destination for Juventus’ Alvaro Morata

Juventus might not be able to sign Alvaro Morata on a permanent deal, leading him to a potential move to Barcelona this summer.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are unwilling to meet Atletico Madrid’s demands for the striker in the summer. It is suggested that Barcelona could be Morata’s next destination if the striker’s permanent move to Turin falls apart.

Last season, Morata was one of the players who benefited from Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence in the club. Playing alongside the Portuguese, the 29-year-old amassed 20 goals and 12 assists in the 2020/21 campaign.

Seeing that, Juventus extended his loan spell to a further year. But the Spaniard has not done justice to his traits this season, having racked up just 11 goals and eight assists from almost the same number of matches as the previous campaign. Morata’s loan will come to an end in June 2022.

As per the report, the club needs to pay an amount of €35million to redeem the forward’s services on a permanent deal this summer. But, as the Bianconeri have already spent a total amount of €20million in Morata’s two loan spells, the Italian club seem reluctant to meet Atleti’s demands this time.

If both parties don’t find an agreement on some discount, Morata might end up leaving Turin. Barcelona are told to have been interested in the former Real Madrid striker for some time now.
