Bologna boss on Man Utd target Marko Arnautović: “I hope he stays”

Bologna head coach Siniša Mihajlović wants Marko Arnautović to stay at the Italian club amid interest from Manchester United. However, the boss is not sure about the striker’s future.

Speaking to Mediaset (via Alfredo Pedulla) following Bologna’s 1-0 victory against Cosenza in the first round of Coppa Italia, Mihajlović addressed the rumours linking Marko Arnautović with a move away from Bologna this summer. He said:

“I and Marko talk often, we have a relationship particular characterized by mutual respect. I don’t know if he stays or goes away, it’s not up to me to decide but to the club, I hope he stays because it’s not easy to replace him, but if he goes away, I’ll be happy for him. I’m sure he will always behave with great respect.”

Manchester United made an initial bid of around €9 million to sign the Austria international, but the offer was rejected by the Bologna management, stating that Arnautović is untransferable. It has been also claimed that United will return to the Rossoblù’s table with an improved bid for the striker in the coming days. Bologna will certainly do their best to keep hold of their treasured asset.
