Chelsea open talks with Spezia for the sale of Ethan Ampadu

Ethan Ampadu is open to developing his trade away from Chelsea ahead of the 2022/23 season, with Serie A side Spezia emerging as an interested party in the defender’s services.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea want to complete the sale of Ethan Ampadu as soon as possible. Spezia are also expected to close the deal for the versatile Welshman in a short time.

The Italian club are currently locked in negotiations over a potential summer transfer for Ampadu. Chelsea have not resisted the talks and are closing in on reaching an agreement with the Italian side.

Since making his debut for Chelsea in 2017, Ampadu has earned only 12 senior caps for the Londoners across all competitions.

After completing two loan spells at RB Leipzig and Sheffield United respectively, the Wales international joined Venezia on another loan deal last summer.

It was his first experience in Italian football, which he embraced extremely well, making 30 appearances for the Serie A newcomers. However, at the end of the season, Venezia got relegated, and the 21-year-old star returned to Chelsea. Spezia could well be his second shot at Italian football.
