Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu set for Spezia move

Chelsea’s Ethan Ampadu is now set to return to Serie A with Spezia following his loan stint at Venezia last season.

Gianluca di Marzio has confirmed that Spezia have now all but sealed the move for the Welshman and he is set to join the Aquilotti on an initial loan deal.

He had joined Venezia last summer on a dry loan and has returned to Stamford Bridge, but Spezia have the option to buy him permanently set at €15 million right now. He will arrive in Italy tomorrow and it is expected that he will undergo a medical with Spezia on Tuesday.

Luca Gotti is said to have a keen liking for the player and Empoli were also interested in Ampadu in recent weeks. But Spezia have now won the race, despite Empoli having seemingly come close to signing the player previously.

The 21-year-old made 29 appearances last season for Venezia and racked up three assists.
