Fabian Ruiz risks being thrown on the bench as renewal talks with Napoli end in disaster

Fabian Ruiz’s future at Napoli is seemingly over, with the latest edition of updates concerning the saga witnessing the player’s ultimate rejection of the extension offered by the Partenopei.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fabian Ruiz, who has eventually rebuffed Napoli’s latest contract renewal offer, could experience the same treatment from the club as Arkadiusz Milik did two years ago.

Having opted against penning a new deal for the Naples-based club, Milik ended up being excluded from Napoli’s official Serie A and UEFA Europa League squads. Going down the same path, Ruiz could also run into the same predicament next season.

The Spaniard’s current terms with Napoli expire in June 2023, meaning that he could leave the club for free next summer if the player doesn’t agree to a contract extension.

The former Real Betis star, as reported before, has always dreamt of playing for top clubs in Spain, including those like Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Although there is interest from them in the 26-year-old midfielder, it is unlikely that any of those two teams will offer a contract to the player this summer. Napoli are striving to bind David Ospina and Dries Mertens with renewals, but the negotiations have not reported reached their goals.
