Federico Bernardeschi set to join Toronto FC

Former Juventus and Fiorentina star Federico Bernardeschi is now set to join MLS side Toronto FC.

Bernardeschi’s contract at Juventus ran out at the end of June and he is now a free agent, amidst links with Napoli in recent weeks.

Gianluca di Marzio has now reported that it is certain that the Italian will join Toronto FC this summer, joining Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito at the team. He did have last few doubts about the move but he has now given his approval to the transfer and he will continue his career in Canada.

Giorgio Chiellini is another Italian who has joined a MLS side in LAFC this summer and Bernardeschi’s move will make sure that four Italian players have headed to the United States this summer.

Bernardeschi’s stock at Juventus had fallen over the years and his game time at the Bianconeri had dried out, leading to a loss in importance.
