Francesco Totti on Luciano Spalletti: “I’d like to talk to him again”

Roma legend Francesco Totti has stated that he would like to talk to Luciano Spalletti once again despite the friction that has surrounded their relationship in the past.

Totti and Spalletti workeed together at Roma but the manager became the reason for the player’s lack of minutes during his second stint. While Totti at false nine under Spalletti revolutionised the role, he had to settle for a role on the bench in the second stint, leading to controversy and criticism for the manager.

With Spalletti now at the top of the Serie A table with Napoli, Totti has hailed his former manager and has revealed that he would love to talk to him again.

He told Be.Pi Tv (via Sky Italia): “Would I like to talk to him again? Of course I do, and I know that it will happen anyway and everyone will give their explanation and for the relationship we had, I’m also sorry for having interrupted it like this. Also because with him I expressed myself to the fullest on the pitch , he changed my role, made me score many goals and we had a relationship that went beyond football.”

While Totti acknowledged the fact that Spalletti changed his role as a footballer, he further went on to praise the Italian, saying: “They are traveling at an impressive and unthinkable pace and in any case Spalletti for me has always remains one of the best coaches around , because of the way he puts the team on the pitch, it’s hard to find someone like that. If the team listens to him, he can go far.”

Totti has been linked with a return to Roma in a director role, as Napoli currently find themselves eight points clear at the top of the Serie A table. Serie A returns on the 4th of January next year, much later than the Premier League’s restart date.
