Franck Ribery set for retirement ahead of Salernitana release

Former France international Franck Ribery is now set to retire from football, as he is set to be released by Salernitana.

Il Mattino have reported today that Ribery has now decided to retire from playing the game and it is a choice he is making due to his decline physical abilities and injuries. He has not featured for the Salerno-based side since the 14th of August.

His contract is set to be terminated and he was earning about €125k per season through it. But a contract as a coach is already ready for the Frenchman and it will run out in the summer of 2024. A dinner meeting took place yesterday and the decision has already been conveyed to Salernitana, who also know of Ribery’s intentions to become a coach after completing his coaching badges.

The 39-year-old has played 25 games for I Granata but he is yet to score, picking up three assists so far.
