Inter to terminate former Man Utd star Alexis Sanchez’s contract and keep Lautaro Martinez

Inter will look to refurbish their forward department in the summer, with Alexis Sanchez being considered a surplus to the club’s requirements.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter will terminate the contract of Alexis Sanchez in June 2022. Signed from Manchester United, the former Arsenal star has not been considered an essential part of Simone Inzaghi’s project at Inter.

Hence, the club has decided to cut short his stay in Milan as the termination of the contract will not allow Sanchez to complete his term scheduled to end in June 2023.

The club wants to alleviate their financial burden by shifting the wages of the Chilean international. It will also help them keep Lautaro Martinez at the club for another year, with the prospect of landing Paulo Dybala on a free transfer hinting at a posibility.

The same report understands that the Nerazzurri management will do their best to hold onto the services of the Argentinian striker, who has emerged as a talismanic figure for the Scudetto aspirants recently.

From 34 league appearances, Martinez has scored 21 goals so far. Arsenal and several other top European clubs have reportedly kept an eye on his situation at Inter. The striker’s current contract at the Italian club ends in June 2026.
