Inter to hold meeting for Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku today

Inter and Chelsea are poised to hold their grounds, with Romelu Lukaku growing desperate to return to Italy amid concerns over his future in London.

A report from Sky Italia suggests that Inter’s managing director Beppe Marotta and Romelu Lukaku’s lawyer will hold a meeting today to discuss a summer transfer for the striker.

Although it will not be easy for the Belgian superstar to evade the grasp of the Londoners only one year after the transfer that cost the Blues a steller amount of around €115million, Inter will look to test the water.

It is understood that Lukaku is pushing for a return to Italy, and his preferred option is Inter, where he racked up 64 goals and 16 assists during his two-year stay at the club. Having joined his boyhood club, the marksman has managed to amass 15 goals and two assists from 44 matches in all competitions this season.

Even though his performances for Chelsea have been uninspiring so far, the Premier League side is keen on keeping hold of the 29-year-old. As things stand, Lukaku appears to be the only individual hopeful of a transfer, with both Chelsea and Inter being far from reaching a consensus.
