Inter to hold meeting for Ivan Perisic amid interest from Premier League side

Inter will look to bind Ivan Persic to a new agreement as Newcastle United remain interested in Croat’s services ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the entourage of Ivan Perisic will meet Inter after the Nerazzurri’s upcoming Serie A game against Cagliari next week.

A few months ago, the club hierarchy was reportedly unsure of Perisic’s future in Italy. But in recent times, his inspiring performances have changed the intentions of the Nerazzurri, with the club now reluctant to get rid of the 33-year-old Croatian international.

Perisic emerged as an integral figure in Inter’s Coppa Italia final against Juventus, leading the team with a brace in the extra time to their first Coppa Italia title since the 2010/11 season. After the game, Perisic was captured as saying,

“Marotta said that we are close to renewal? You don’t wait for the last moment, with the important players, you don’t do that.”

He has been a valued member of Simone Inzaghi’s team all season. The Inter management will look to close the gap between the demands of the player and those of the club.

As reported earlier, the Milan-based club are looking to offer Perisic an extension of two seasons for a salary of €4.5million-per-year, while Perisic is demanding a fixed contract of two years plus an option for an additional year along with an annual salary package of €6million.

The report believes that Frane Jurcevic, Perisic’s friend and agent working for the LJ Sports Group, will hold talks with Inter over the player’s renewal in the next meeting. Perisic would like to play in the Champions League, but Newcastle United are reportedly readying an expensive-looking offer for the Croat.
