Inter’s Lautaro Martínez discusses negotiations with Barcelona

Barcelona will host Inter in their fourth Champions League group-stage match on Wednesday evening. Ahead of the game, Inter forward Lautaro Martínez discussed his negotiations with the Catalan club.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the Argentinian forward admitted that the negotiations with Barça were a thing of the past. As quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb, Martínez, when asked about him being close to a transfer to Barcelona, admitted:

“It’s now the thing of the past, today I am an Inter player. That’s what I wanted, I will give my best for Inter.”

Even in the last transfer window, there were rumours of Barcelona attempting to lure the South American away from Italy. But with Inter showing their determination to keep hold of the striker, a deal never went over the line.

Since the start of the 2022/23 season, the Argentinian has had an underwhelming season in front of the goal. From 12 matches across all competitions, the forward has amassed just three goals and one assist. In the Champions League, however, Martínez is still looking to open his tally.
