Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United target Jurrien Timber at Roma

Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified Roma‘s defence as a weak link. And thus, he wants to refurbish the defensive department to reduce his team’s limitations.

According to journalist Daniele Longo, the Roma manager has shortlisted the names of two centre-backs who could elevate their defensive prowess. One of them is Jurrien Timber.

Currently plying his trade for Ajax in Dutch Eredivisie, Timber, 21, was widely linked with a move to Manchester United last summer. The report suggests that Bayern Munich remain another interested party in the pursuit of the Dutch defender.

Timber is considered Mourinho’s favourite target on the shortlist. As suggested by Longo, a potential deal for the 21-year-old could cost the Giallorossi a figure of around €30 million next summer.

Roma also like Evan Ndicka, who has a contract at Eintracht Frankfurt until June 2023. Besides Roma, Juventus are also reported to have shown an interest in the Frenchman, who has recently turned 23.
