Juventus are now aiming to make sure that Angel di Maria signs a contract extension at the Bianconeri.
Di Maria joined Juve for free, but on the condition that he will stay at the club for a single season and then move back to Rosario Central in Argentina. Following his heroics in the World Cup final, Juve are hoping that he could re-sign with the club for another campaign.
Fabiana della Valle reports that Juve initially preferred a two-year deal but it was Di Maria who wanted a one-year deal. Despite his injury-prone first season, Juve are still hoping that he signs a new deal. An appointment between Di Maria’s agent and Federico Cherubini has been set and they are likely to speak in January.
Juve believe that Di Maria remains a decisive player and they will offer him a one-year extension and this will allow them to look for a replacement calmly. They are now waiting for him to return from the World Cup.
