Juventus face three key challenges in chase for Roma’s Zaniolo

AS Roma will reportedly ask for a huge transfer fee for Nicolo Zaniolo, posing difficulty for Juventus.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma will ask for at least €50million for the transfer of Nicolo Zaniolo in the next summer transfer window.

Juventus are understood to have emerged as one of the main candidates pursuing the services of the 22-year-old. But the report suggests that the asking price could make it difficult for the Old Lady to complete a loan-plus-obligation transfer next summer.

Zaniolo’s current contract expires in June 2024. But as suggested by various reports, Jose Mourinho doesn’t see the left-footer as a long-term option at Roma. Having made 33 appearances in all competitions for Giallorossi this season, Zaniolo has racked up only four goals and eight assists so far. His 23 Serie A appearances include two goals and four assists this term.

Other than the high transfer fee, Juventus are reportedly concerned about the fitness of Zaniolo, who has already survived two ACL injuries so early in his career. Plus, Juve keep pondering upon whether he would be a better addition over Giacomo Raspadori, who has a fair share of admirers in Turin. As per the report, Juventus want to bolster other areas of the pitch as well, with promising midfielders such as Paul Pogba and Renato Sanches drawing clamours from the Piedmontese club.
