Juventus loanee Arthur out injured for at least three months

Liverpool signed Arthur Melo from Juventus on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window. However, the move has not panned out as the midfielder would have liked.

According to a report from Alfredo PedullĂ , Arthur will undergo surgery this weekend to fix his muscular issues. However, as per multiple reports from England, the recovery period for the midfielder is supposed to be at least three months, with some even claiming that it could stretch to four months, meaning that the Brazilian midfielder will make his return in 2023.

Since joining Liverpool, the 26-year-old has made just one appearance for the Premier League club. Yet, that one appearance lasted for only 13 minutes in a Champions League against Napoli that Liverpool went on to lose 4-1.

Identifying the lack of match sharpness in the midfielder’s play, Jürgen Klopp sent him to the Liverpool U21s, where the former Barcelona man played a couple of matches with the reserves.

Juventus have confirmed that Arthur’s deal includes an option for a permanent purchase worth €37.5 million, meaning that Brazilain might not return to Juventus next summer. Though, the chances of Liverpool redeeming Arthur’s services are looking slim. With the Old Lady, the midfielder has a contract until June 2025.
