Juventus’ Maccabi Haifa loss breaks European record

Juventus lost 2-0 to Israeli outfit Maccabi Haifa but the defeat made sure that the Bianconeri broke their own European record.

This was Juve’s third loss in four Champions League games this season and their only win came against Maccabi in the clash in Turin, but they relied on a late goal from Adrien Rabiot to seal the 3-1 win in the reverse fixture. But two goals from winger Omer Atzili saw Maccabi through in Israel, condemning Max Allegri to another defeat in a poor start to the campaign.

But the defeat also broke a Juve record, with the Old Lady conceding a goal in six consecutive European games for the first time since 2013.

The Old Lady were knocked out by Villarreal in the previous season of the Champions League. They lost 2-1 to Paris Saint-Germain and they lost 2-1 to Benfica as well in their second game of the season. They may now have a fight to qualify for the Europa League as well.
