La Liga club Mallorca make contact with Spezia for Dimitrios Nikolaou

Amid the rush of the dying days of the 2022 summer transfer market, Mallorca are negotiating with Serie A side Spezia for a transfer of Dimitrios Nikolaou.

According to transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Spezia are awaiting an official offer from Mallorca for Dimitrios Nikolaou.

The report suggests that the Spanish club could sign him on a loan deal plus an obligation to buy (depending on whether Spezia could stay in the top tier of Italian football by the end of the 2022/23 season). In all, the deal could cost Mallorca an amount of around €5 million.

Spezia have already started looking for a replacement, with the Ligurians considering a summer transfer for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu.

Considered a first-team player for Spezia, Nikolaou made 36 appearances in Serie A last season and has already played two games in the Italian top flight this season. As far as Mallorca’s transfer business is concerned, they have already brought in Vedat Muriqi on loan from Lazio this summer. Signing Nikolaou could be their second shot at exploiting the Italian transfer market.
